2005 MASTERCRAFT X10 V-DRIVEThe most versatile boat in the Mastercraft lineup this nimble boat can do it all. From HUGE surf and wakeboard wakes to higher speed slalom skiing, this boat is the definition of a true crossover. OVERVIEW In the middle of the Mastercraft lineup is the X-10, designed for families and intermediate riders. Not that you'd know the X-10 has a softer side from glancing at the edgy hull graphics and the tower with board racks. The standard Clarion stereo system has scary power with four JL Audio speakers, subwoofer and amp. But look past the wakeboarding features, and the X-10 is built on the same hull and deck as the MariStar 210 from MasterCraft's luxury line of family sports boats. That's why there's a deep-V entry for a soft ride through chop and plenty of seating and storage for parents and kids, plus a standard ski pylon for crossover capability. Everything from the all hand-laid fiberglass construction to the premium upholstery is top-notch. SKIING The deep-V entry mellows out to a flatter running surface at the transom for average recreational slalom wakes. The wakes are OK for beginner skiers looking to squeeze in some free skiing amid all the wakeboarding and cruising. WAKEBOARDING With the triple KGB ballast system and our additional test ballast, our test riders were soon enjoying advanced-level wakes behind the X-10. The transitions are fairly short, so riders can expect a poppy lip with extremely kicky double-ups. LOWDOWN A great set of standard wakeboarding amenities has turned the MariStar 210 into the X-10, an edgy machine for intermediate riders. Hits the sweet spot for the boat-buying masses by not having overwhelming size or overwhelming wakes. V-drive configuration allows for lots of seating in the wraparound lounge. Storage available from beneath the open-bow seating to the two rear trunks alongside the engine. PERFORMANCE Top Speed 44.5 mph 5,100 rpm Accel. to 30 mph 5.4 sec. 130 ft. Accel. to 36 mph 7.2 sec. 217 ft.
